Balboa Park Wedding at Saint Francis Chapel and The Prado

By, June 15, 2012

At Saint Francis Chapel and the San Diego Museum of Man, we love helping couples create a memorable experience that they can share with their loved ones for the rest of their lives.

We were honored to be a part of Jessica and Francis’ Balboa Park wedding.  This theatrical bride and groom became husband and wife at the Saint Francis Chapel. After the ceremony, the wedding commenced a few hundred yards away at The Prado!

My favorite moment of the day was watching the groom’s face as the bride stepped into the Chapel. Because we have a secluded bridal suite, it’s truly a surprise for the groom when she enters.

I love the framing in this shot – it provides a beautiful and memorable focal point!

The affection shared between Jessica and her niece in this quiet moment just after the ceremony is beautiful.

Balboa Park at night can be breathtaking! This photo captures Saint Francis Chapel in the background and looks like a page out of a fairytale book! I love the dramatic lighting, and the contrast of Jessica’s dress with the rich sky.

The smile on Jessica’s face in this photo says it all – it conveys everything a newly-married bride should feel!

The entire evening was playful and unique. This fun photo captures the color and merriment of the whole evening!

Jessica and Francis were so original. Their sense of style and fun made for an evening that felt like a Hollywood party.

The photos here really showcase the upbeat, jovial mood of the evening. I love the bold use of colors in everything from clothing to flowers to lighting at the ceremony and reception. Everything about it says fun!

A Wedding Ceremony at Saint Francis Chapel in the Museum of Man

By, June 11, 2012

Located in historic Balboa Park, Saint Francis Chapel is one San Diego’s favorite choices for wedding ceremonies. The Chapel is positioned across the street from the main entrance to the Museum of Man, and is a non-denominational sanctuary. Notable features of this venue include an “old mission” style, and an ornate gold altar.

Honey and Armando, one of our  beautiful couples who exchanged vows at the Chapel, were so sweet and genuine.  They were truly a pleasure to work with.  Below you can see a few of our favorite images from their day, from Honey’s moment of quiet bliss before she entered the Chapel, to the concluding wedding party at the Hard Rock Hotel.

I love this moment of serenity as the beautiful bride gets ready to enter the Chapel. Everything about this image is classic and timeless, like the bride herself.

In these images, you can tell how much the bride and groom love each other. Their joy and sense of fun really comes through in this shot, and I love how they’re framed by the ornate doors.

It is so fitting that wedding photos were taken at Balboa Park’s giant tree roots – it’s a perfect metaphor for their new life together. I love the contrast of textures between Honey’s crisp white dress and the gnarly roots.

Everything about this photo is beautiful: the late afternoon light, the rich colors, the wooden bridge, and of course the lovely couple!

The whole event was romantic and sweet, from the decorations, to the vows, to the bride and groom themselves. This was such a charming day!
