East Coast Wedding in Buxton, Maine

By, October 24, 2013

The most Northeastern destination of our True Tour was up to Portland, Maine for the beautiful wedding of Colleen and Russell.  This wonderful couple chose to get married at The Barn at Flanagan Farm after visiting Maine for vacation and falling in love with the area.  The unique venue was just a short drive outside of Portland in the countryside of Buxton, Maine.  The changing of the fall leaves was just starting to make its way to Maine, and we were able to capture hints of the colors out and around the property.

The ceremony was tucked away and surrounded by pine trees, creating a very intimate and peaceful location to tie the knot.

The interior of the farmhouse was light and airy with pops of color, such as the blue wallpaper behind Colleen, above, and the beautiful coral and pinks in the bridal suite, below.

Attached to the farmhouse was the rustic yet refined barn.  Russell and his men looked dignified in the loft, above the event space, which was surrounded by unique decor.

The property around Flanagan Farm lent itself to beautiful and classic photos of the bride and groom, as well as the rest of the bridal party.  Within close vicinity, there was dense forest, lush prairie and a floral garden-scape.

Every farm has to have a barn :)  I would call this one in particular more of a couture barn.  During the dinner reception, sheer white draping and accent lighting provided a very elegant and cozy feeling for guests.

What a good looking group of people!  Collen and Russel, it was our pleasure to photograph your special day!  Cheers to the beginning of a wonderful life together :)

Changing of the leaves in Vermont

By, October 23, 2013

Welcome to Vermont!  This state is home to over 100 picturesque covered bridges, and has some of the most scenic fall leaves we’ve ever seen.  We were lucky enough to come across one of the more famous bridges, the West Arlington Covered Bridge. We had never seen this bridge before and we were really hoping it would red so it would stand out against all the beautiful green, and splashes of early fall colors.  Wish granted!

Have a look below at our journey through Vermont as we traveled east for the wedding of Colleen and Russel in Portland, Maine.

We drove through Vermont at the very start of the fall leaves! I can’t imagine what this same photo would have looked like a couple of weeks later!

The Marble Mansion Inn is a unique find in Fair Haven, Vermont and was unlike any place we had stayed on our trip!  This beautiful bed and breakfast was built entirely out of marble, and had a grand presence in this low-key small town.

Sleeping in a Cozy Barn In Scottsville, New York

By, October 16, 2013

Sleeping in a barn isn’t something that is traditionally thought of as relaxing and peaceful.  That is unless you have stumbled across The Barnhouse Bed and Breakfast at Grace Acres in Scottsville, New York.  We were seeking a little downtime in the middle of our trip where we could catch up on our work while soaking in a little bit of peace and quiet.  The minute we drove up to the barn, we knew we had found what we were looking for!

We were immediately greeted by the farm dog, Rex, and the owners of the unique property, Libby and Ron Linton.  Right away, they made us feel like their home was our home.  We visited the horses, took a walk on the Genesee Valley Greenway, and picked apples. Libby even let me snag two cobs of corn from the community-run garden on their farm!

If you find yourself traveling through upstate New York, you must visit Libby, Ron and Rex at this wonderful bed and breakfast. Did I mention that the breakfast is all homemade by Libby, and is a feast for a king?  Seriously.  It was some of the best breakfasts that we have ever had!
