A Decadent Wedding Dessert Table by Ditzie Cakes

By, March 19, 2013

Recently, I had the opportunity to work with April and Brad, who were married at the Fairbanks Rancho Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe. What a delight it was to work with such a sweet couple!

Staying within their purple and ivory color scheme, and butterfly theme, I created a beautiful dessert table that guests were sure to remember.

At the country club, the dining room was glowing with elegant gold chandeliers, as well as vibrant up-lights in purple tones. We designed the dessert table to tie in with the look and feel of the day, and ensured that the table was stocked with April and Brad’s favorite treats.

The dessert menu was created around April and Brad’s other loves: Red Velvet, Nutter Butters, Coconut Lime and their must-have, Oreo Cookie! We also added our Ditzie Cakes signatures: Truffle Pops, Ditzie Choco-Spoons, and a Milk Shot Bar. At the center was a beautiful single-tier Oreo Cookie cake, which the bride and groom sliced into for tradition!

To complete this charming display, the table was set with old vintage wine crates, amber bottles with fresh mauve roses, and a chalkboard!

The chalkboard was a fun way to describe what was on the menu. The table towered with playfulness and delicious desserts!

I also designed personalized tags to wrap 165 Truffle Pop Favors, which were handed out to April and Brad’s guests towards the end of the evening. To match the style, I created a personalized cake topper banner!

Having a display of so many desserts definitely calls for a Milk Shot Bar. Even the little ones kept coming back!

Everything was so much fun, and a labor of love to create for this amazing couple! My favorite part was seeing how excited and happy April and Brad were on their wedding day. Hearing that my work was everything they had hoped for was truly the best reward. I thank April and Brad for making this wedding exciting for me as well! Cheers to the happy couple!

Villa de Flores Wedding Kiss | January 25, 2013

By, January 25, 2013

This Friday, our “Photo of the Week” captures Jade and Chris sharing a kiss, while their playful bridal party peeks over to witness the moment.  The framing of this photo is clever, cutesy and just plain adorable.

This beautiful couple exchanged vows inside the San Diego Mormon Temple in La Jolla, and celebrated their marriage in the gardens of Villa de Flores in Rancho Santa Fe. While guests enjoyed an hour of cocktails and conversation, the group headed over to Balboa Park for a variety of fun and glamorous photos.

Check out more images from Chris and Jade’s soft-hued, vintage inspired wedding.

A Jet-Set Wedding at The Crosby Club in Rancho Santa Fe

By, January 10, 2013

This week, we bring you a beautiful wedding we photographed for Malissa and Enis at The Crosby Club in Rancho Santa Fe.  The bride’s parents have a holiday home at The Crosby, so hosting their wedding at the gorgeous Spanish style golf club was a perfect choice.

Because Malissa and Enis live in Hong Kong, and Enis is originally from Turkey, it was important for them to incorporate travel into the wedding. This jet-set theme also tied nicely into the old world charm of The Crosby. After the wedding, we chatted with the bride to get her rundown on the big day.  Take a look below to see what Malissa had to say!

True Photography did such a beautiful job – I am so grateful. I love the photo of my husband and I standing in front of the vintage Rolls Royce on the bridge at the Crosby.

We wanted chic elegance.  I love the look of tonal nudes and ivory, so our colors included blush, champagne, ivory and cream, with touches of lace.

I loved my dress, and the lace fit nicely into the style of the day. It was Alvina Valenta Couture and I bought it at The White Dress in Corona Del Mar.  The minute I tried it on, I starting screaming. It was mine from that minute forward!

There were so many rich and vivid memories from the day. I think my favorite was when I delivered my vows in Turkish.  That was a surprise to my husband. Even though I ended up being very emotional and crying through my vows, I was happy to share my eternal love to him in his native language. His mom (who doesn’t speak English) was also very touched.

We loved that there were so many parts of the property that we could use, including the ceremony space, the cocktail reception on the patio, and the grand room for the reception. The gorgeous golf course, the bridges, and architectural details also allowed for so many great photo opportunities.

My husband is from Turkey and I am from Nevada, and we both love travel. We moved to Hong Kong two years ago after only a few months of dating – we took a big leap of faith! We have taken advantage of our time living in Asia by traveling throughout the continent. The seating map was a reflection of our journey – metaphorically and literally!   In addition to lots of places in Asia, table names included where we met (San Francisco), where we had our first vacation (Maui), and the spots in Turkey when I first met his family (Istanbul and Turunc).

Each table had a picture of us in the destination the table was named after, and a story about our travel there.

Guests were also given luggage tags on their place settings as a favor, which tied into the travel theme.

The reception was a blast!  It started off very elegant. The room was divine, with a beautiful and glamorous feeling.

We wanted the night to be full of surprises, so we had arranged for Turkish dancers to perform and give a flavor of my husband’s side of the family.  That was a big hit!  They were beautiful and so much fun.

My dad also surprised me by organizing a mini flash mob to “The Dougie.”  All of the groomsmen, his business partners, and friends came up one by one to do The Dougie dance.  It was a shock for me, and hilarious!

The team at The Crosby was so wonderful, and made the day so easy and dreamy.
