How to Incorporate Your Wedding Theme into Your Photos

By, May 30, 2023

At True Photography we understand the importance of capturing the perfect wedding photos. One way to make your wedding photos even more memorable is by incorporating your wedding theme into them. Here are some tips on how to do just that:

1. Choose the Right Location:

The location of your photo shoot can make a huge difference in the overall look and feel of your photos. If you’re having a beach-themed wedding, consider taking photos on the beach with the ocean in the background. If you’re having a rustic-themed wedding, consider taking photos in a barn or on a farm.

2. Coordinate Your Colors:

Make sure the colors you choose for your wedding decor match the colors in your photos. This will make your photos look cohesive and put together. For example, if you’re having a purple-themed wedding, consider using purple flowers in your bouquet and as centerpieces, and wearing a purple tie or jewelry.

3. Add Props:

Props can be a great way to incorporate your wedding theme into your photos. For example, if you’re having a vintage-themed wedding, consider using vintage suitcases, hats, or other items as props in your photos.

4. Use Lighting to Your Advantage:

Lighting is crucial when it comes to photography. If you’re having a romantic-themed wedding, consider taking photos during the golden hour, which is the hour before sunset when the lighting is soft and warm.

5.  Be Creative:

Don’t be afraid to think outside the box when it comes to incorporating your wedding theme into your photos. Use your imagination and come up with unique and creative ways to showcase your wedding theme in your photos.

Beach Wedding Trends

By, March 28, 2023

At True Photography, we love capturing the beauty and magic of San Diego beach weddings. From romantic sunsets to stunning ocean views, there’s no better backdrop for your big day. If you’re planning a beach wedding in San Diego, here are a few beach wedding trends to consider that will make your day unforgettable.

Bohemian Vibes

Bohemian beach weddings are still very much in style for 2023. From flowy dresses and barefoot brides to flower crowns and loose, natural hairstyles, the boho trend is all about embracing a relaxed and carefree vibe. Additionally this style works perfectly for beach weddings and pairs beautifully with soft pastel colors, macrame accents, and plenty of greenery.San Diego beach wedding boho vibes

Intimate Ceremonies

Due to the ongoing pandemic, many couples are opting for smaller, more intimate weddings. Beach weddings are perfect for this, as they offer a more casual and relaxed atmosphere. Consider having a smaller ceremony with just your closest family and friends, followed by a sunset beach reception with drinks and appetizers. Consider Sunset Cliffs, La Jolla Cove, or Torrey Pines State Beach for intimate beach ceremonies. Small ceremony beach wedding in San Diego photographed by True Photography

Rustic Chic

Rustic chic is a trend that is perfect for beach weddings in San Diego. Moreover, this style combines the natural beauty of the beach with a touch of rustic charm. Additionally consider using wooden decor elements like driftwood or crates, paired with elegant flowers and soft fabrics. A beachside bonfire is a perfect way to end the night.rustic beach wedding details captured by True Photography

Nautical Details

Nautical details are an overall timeless choice for beach weddings. This trend includes navy and white color schemes, anchors, ropes, and also other marine elements. Think about incorporating these details in particularly subtle ways, like with navy blue bridesmaid dresses, navy striped table runners, or anchor-shaped cake toppers.

Unconventional Cakes

Finally, unconventional wedding cakes are a big trend for beach weddings in 2023. Think outside the box with unique cake flavors, shapes, and designs. Consider a naked cake with fresh fruit, a beach-themed cake with seashells and coral, or even a donut tower!

Rustic Mountain Wedding | Dalen and Dave

By, October 30, 2017

Dalen and Dave held their rustic outdoor wedding at the historic Bailey’s Palomar Resort. This 60-acre venue, established in 1888, sits high up in the Palomar mountains. The property is lined with century-old walnut trees and vintage details, and doubles as a lush campground. It was an amazing location for a weekend wedding getaway!

Throughout the weekend, friends and family were invited to partake in games, craft beer and nature. We loved Dalen and Dave’s fun, outgoing personalities, and enjoyed photographing at such a unique venue. Here are a few of our favorite moments from the occasion!

For the image above, we wanted to bring out the warm, romantic glow of the cabin in the background. To accomplish this, we first placed an LED light on Dalen and Dave. We then added a backlight, which created separation between them and the dark wood cabin.

As Dalen wrapped up her final touches, we had her dad hold up a mirror while we photographed over her shoulder. This allowed us to capture both Dalen and her dad's reactions at once.
Love note on Bride's shoes
We noticed Dave had left this sweet hand-written note on Dalen's shoes as a surprise. This detail spoke volumes as a heartwarming and subtle gesture. We wanted to preserve the moment with a timeless photo.

Paying homage to the property's rustic qualities, Dalen and Dave incorporated a variety of wildflowers, along with this antique gate from the Architecture Salvage in Little Italy. For an extra pop of color, the couple added florals by Rosemary Duff for a creative DIY wedding arch.
