A Springtime Wedding with Fresh Blooms by Matteson’s Florist | L’Auberge Hotel in Del Mar

By, May 02, 2013

I was first introduced to Nicole at the beautiful L’Auberge Hotel in Del Mar. We sat in the cozy couches at the bar, and discussed her wedding to Gene. Over lemonade, we shared ideas regarding the floral vision for the big day. Nicole had such a warm smile which reflected in her style: nice, simple, and uncomplicated.

Nicole knew she wanted simple Calla Lily bouquets for each of her Bridesmaides, which created a nice starting point for her wedding design. To complement the look and feel of L’Auberge, she chose to incorporate white, green, and blue into the arrangements.

Spring is such a beautiful time to get married! You can have nice bulb plants, such as blue Muscari, which are not available year-round. For Nicole’s bouquet, we used mini white calla lilies with Green Eye Ranunculas, white Dendrobium Orchids, and a touch of Muscari.

Traditionally, we like to match the Groom’s Boutonniere to the bridal bouquet. Here, we chose a Mini Calla Lily and an Orchid Bloom, which we wrapped in charcoal ribbon.

For the ceremony, we rented Nicole and Gene a beautiful wooden structure, which we drapped in white tulle and sage chiffon. We lightly decorated the structure with flowers used in Nicole’s bridal bouquet; she loved it! The fabric was such a nice touch, especially with the light breeze coming up from the ocean.

For the reception florals, Nicole envisioned a low, unstructured look. We gathered white and green tones in bubble bowls, and placed them on top of round mirrors.

The lily theme was even carried over to the wedding cake, which was topped with white lilies crafted out of fondant.

From the earthy tones, to the ocean breeze, Nicole’s wedding came together beautifully. She and Gene were an absolute joy to work with!

An Enchanted Wedding Celebration at The Prado with Floral Decor by Blush Botanicals

By, February 18, 2013

We love being creative, and going “all out” for excited couples who are passionate about working with us! Our favorite part of what we do is seeing the finished product come together on the wedding day.

We recently had the honor of creating the floral decor for Tanya and Cameron’s big day at the The Prado in Balboa Park.

Tanya chose a beautiful and meaningful bridal bouquet of soft ivory, blush and grey tones, complete with texture and detail. The handle was finished in ivory satin, and included aspects from the bridal gown, as well as photos of family members.

What started with a few inspiration photos from Tanya and Cameron gave us quickly became a completely customized look. Following their color scheme of deep reds, burgundy, and natural green tones, we created unique groomsman boutonnieres and bridesmaid bouquets. The colors used were a nice complement to their grey satin dresses!

The reception at The Prado was enhanced with candles, which were presented in clear and mercury glasses. The room had a beautiful glow, and it set the mood for a romantic evening.

The head table, which was focal point of the room, was draped in beautiful crushed champagne linen and gold Chiavari chairs. Details of the table included mercury glass vessels of varying sizes. The eclectic vases and candles were separated by two tall Manzanita branch centerpieces.

We placed two types of centerpieces around the reception area. First, we used natural brown Manzanita branches, which were presented in custom stained-wood boxes. We draped deep red, burgundy and natural green blooms from the branches, as well as glowing hanging candles. These stunning arrangements helped to create drama and beauty throughout the room.

The next centerpiece was designed by filling a mercury glass vase with richly colored florals. Vases were separated by tall mercury glass candle holders, which paired beautifully with the gold chargers set out for each guest.

We appreciated Tanya and Cameron’s trusting nature, and their energy throughout the planning process. It is always refreshing to work with a young couple who is so in love, and so energized about their big day! The florals came together beautifully, and set the tone for an enchanted evening!

An Elegant Vintage Wedding at Calamigos Ranch with Flowers by The Hidden Garden

By, January 31, 2013

At The Hidden Garden, we create a wedding day for the bride and groom that truly displays their style and personal touch. Starting with the very first conversation, we ask questions of our wedding couple to help them express their personalities. We consider ourselves “flower therapists” in this way :) By the end of the process, we are prepared and ready to design the perfect florals, tailored uniquely to each couple.

The Hidden Garden recently worked closely with Kelsie and Christopher for their wedding at Calamigos Ranch, located in the heart of the Malibu wine country.

We designed all of the floral arrangements for this gorgeous wedding. To ensure the look and feel of the wedding was cohesive, we also assisted with the decor. Kelsie and Christopher wanted an elegant and romantic wedding with a vintage vibe.

To carry out the vintage look and feel, we incorporated this classic sofa from Found Vintage Rentals just outside of the ceremony space

We adore this photo of Kelsie holding her bridal bouquet of garden roses in shades of light pink. You can see a glimpse of the bouquet handle, which we treated with lace and a vintage broach.

Because Kelsie and Christopher love lush flowers (mainly garden roses in all soft blush tones), we used tons for the ceremony site. It was a beautiful moment when Kelsie’s father walked her down the aisle, which was carpeted with rose petals.

Kelsie and Christopher said their vows underneath a hundred year old Oak Tree, which was decorated with ivy, chandeliers and cascading twinkle lights. The bride and groom, along with the wedding party, stood elevated above the guests for a grand ceremony.

After the ceremony, guests headed over to the tented reception. The crystal chandeliers, white drapes, and twinkle lights created an ambiance of vintage elegance.

We decorated the Sweetheart Table at the reception with lush pink and white garden roses, with a touch of natural greenery. To carry out the theme, ee paired the table with matching vintage printed chairs.

We helped Kelsie & Christopher choose their linens, chairs, table settings, furniture and other decor details. Every decision was perfectly planned out, and it all came together seamlessly!

Kelsie wanted the wedding to have a romantic touch throughout. We especially love this photo of them with their combined name, “Kelstopher,” printed on a pillow.

Kelsie and Christopher wanted to add a sense of nostalgia to the wedding, so they brought along a functioning ferris wheel for guests to enjoy! The ferris wheel, along with a mini carnival, was set up on the lawn at Calamigos Ranch. What a fun idea!

Everyone at The Hidden Garden has a real passion for what we do. Our wedding clients often become our friends, and we continue to share many other joyous occasions even after the wedding day has passed. Congrats to Kelsie and Christopher!
