Unique Seattle Area Wedding Venues

By, September 11, 2013

Just 20 minutes from Seattle, across the Washington River, lies the town of Bellevue, Washington. Bellevue means “beautiful view,” and this town lives up to its name! If you are looking to get married near Seattle, and want a location with rich greenery and a gorgeous river backdrop, then this place may be perfect!

During our Bellevue venture, we scouted out one of the most popular venues in the city, Robinswood House and Cabana. Tucked inside Robinswood Park, and surrounded by evergreen trees, this venue is a wonderful place to exchange “I Do’s”. It can even handle more than 200 guests!

Robinswood House and Cabana features multiple indoor rooms, a formal English garden, and two patios. Both patios are suitable for a ceremony, cocktail hour and/or wedding reception. Who wouldn’t want to get married here?

Our next stop was Kirkland, Washington, which is just 3 miles north of Bellevue. In Kirkland, we visited the only waterfront hotel on Lake Washington, the Woodmark Hotel, Yacht Club and Spa. In addition to a scenic lakefront, this hotel also boasts views of the Seattle Skyline and Olympic Mountains!

While we were there, we were were lucky enough to witness a wedding taking place. Guests enjoyed their dinner reception outside on the Olympic Terrace, and then moved into the Lake Washington Ballroom for music and dancing. It was very elegant and picturesque!

One more unique detail to this hotel is their personal Chris Craft boat, appropriately named the Woodmark II.  The morning after a wedding, Bride and Groom are treated to either a ceremonial sendoff, or a relaxing breakfast trip around the lake! What a fun way to start a new life together :)

Overall, we were impressed by both the Robinswood House and the Woodmark Hotel. If you are a bride getting married in the Seattle area, these are two must-see venues!

Sunflowers, champagne and a sunset make a romantic engagement shoot

By, May 17, 2011

We had an awesome time photographing Jhovanna and Jak around the beach in Del Mar.  This Laguna Beach couple fit in beautifully with nature’s cool colors along the cliff overlooking the ocean. The progression of the engagement shoot was almost like a great date: a nature walk with sunflowers, a bottle of champagne in the park, a gorgeous sunset, and a night on the town on 15th Street in Del Mar!

We are looking forward to photographing these two USD alums as they tie the knot at the University of San Diego Founder’s Chapel, and celebrate at the Estancia Resort and Spa in La Jolla this fall.  Go Toreros!

Engagement Shoot | Vikki and Brian | May 2010

Brian and I met at a wedding in the summer of 2004. It was a super awkward first meeting in the buffet line and we only had a quick hello before we fled out of nervousness. We spoke again towards the end of the night and I quickly realized how much we had in common and how easy it was to talk to him. However, I felt a very strong friend vibe and wasn’t interested in him at the time. I ended up giving him my phone number when he asked and we went out 2 weeks later. It was a simple dinner and walk around 3rd St Promenade, but it was the best date of my life – I didn’t want it to end! I was instantly in love with him. I went to my parents house that night and told them I had met the man I was going to marry. We’ve been together ever since and every day we find another reason to fall in love with each other.

I was obsessive when it came to finding our wedding photographer. I knew I wanted someone who had photographed our venue, was kind, easy, fun to work with, of course brilliant at their job, and somewhat easy on the budget. After researching and meeting with many photographers, Brian and I met with Aaron at True and walked out knowing they were the right match for us. We loved everything about them – easy to work with, friendly, approachable, extremely talented and cared a lot about what we wanted. I am so lucky we got them!!

I was really excited for the shoot and Brian was really nervous. Neither of us had really been in front of the camera before, so we had no idea what to expect. Instantly, Mike calmed our fears and we started having so much fun. Half way through the shoot, we forgot the camera was even there! Mike made us feel great and we can’t wait to see him again at the wedding!

Having the football in some of the pictures is one of my favorite things. Brian loves sports and especially Green Bay Packers football. We had all of our friends sign a football before the session with messages to us. The main one you see written is “All You Need is Love” which is written by my partner in a new event planning company we have started this year because of our love of weddings.

We will be getting married in September at the Estancia Hotel and Spa in La Jolla.
